Less Heat, More Efficiency in Dry Pasta Production Departments
The Importance of Proper Climate Control in the Food Industry
In the food industry, indoor climate management is not just about comfort; it is a key factor in ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance, as we have explored in detail here.
High temperatures and excessive humidity can compromise food processing, altering texture and accelerating spoilage.
At the same time, suboptimal environmental conditions affect workers’ well-being, reducing productivity and increasing health risks.
Effective climate control must ensure stable temperatures, humidity regulation, and proper air exchange, adapting to different production needs between summer and winter.
Technologies such as evaporative cooling and advanced ventilation systems offer a sustainable and efficient solution, improving the working environment while ensuring high standards of hygiene and food safety.
THE CHALLENGE
During the summer months, the client faced critical climate management issues in the dry pasta production department, with temperature peaks of 37°C and high humidity levels, which negatively impacted both worker well-being and product quality.
In winter, humidity generated by production processes led to condensation forming on ceilings and walls, creating operational challenges and environmental discomfort.
The client needed an effective solution to:
✅ Improve climate comfort
✅ Enhance worker well-being
✅ Optimize and reduce energy costs
Solution
To address these challenges, we proposed and installed our COLDAIR evaporative cooling system (TA309H roof-mounted model), designed to counteract high temperatures in combination with an air extraction system to ensure proper air exchange year-round and achieve optimal climate comfort.
🔹 In summer: Coldair reduces indoor temperatures, purifies incoming air, and oxygenates the environment, improving comfort without increasing energy consumption.
🔹 In winter: The extraction system ensures proper air exchange, eliminates condensation, and maintains a healthy indoor environment.
THE RESULTS
The installation of COLDAIR, combined with a targeted microclimate management approach, significantly improved efficiency and livability in the production environment, enhancing employee well-being and ensuring consistent product quality.
✅ Temperature reduced from 37°C to 28.5°C, improving thermal comfort
✅ Winter condensation eliminated, enhancing safety and hygiene
✅ Optimized air exchange, ensuring year-round well-being
✅ Significant energy consumption reduction, lowering environmental impact
WHY USE COLDAIR IN THE FOOD INDUSTRY?
Whether it’s a pasta production facility, a bakery, or another food processing plant, COLDAIR optimizes the internal microclimate of production environments in a natural, efficient, and sustainable way.
✅ Air Quality – Purifies and filters the incoming air
✅ Humidity Control – Maintains optimal humidity levels for food processing and sensitive products
✅ Condensation Prevention – In combination with extraction systems, prevents condensation on walls and ceilings
✅ Energy Efficiency & Cost Reduction – Up to 80% lower energy consumption compared to traditional cooling systems
✅ Comfort & Productivity – Enhances worker well-being, reducing fatigue and thermal stress while preserving the organoleptic properties of ingredients
